THE  GREAT NORTH RUN.  Chris Medd  interviewed BY CHERYL CORDIER who also has a learning disability  on the 4th May 2008

Q1. When did you do the North run ?

Chris - Sunday 1st October  2006 and also the following year in 2007.

Q2 What happened on the day?

Chris - I ran the whole way from Newcastle to South Shields and  someone died during the race  on that day.

Q3 Where is it held at?

Chris -  it is held at Newcastle.

Q4 What  time  did it start ?

Chris - 10.30am.

Q5 Who did you  go with on the day?

Chris - I  went  with my mum and dad.

Q6 how long it take you to get there?

Chris - 3 hours. I was really sore when I finished.

Q7 who are you running for this year

Chris - “I am running to raise money for Advocacy in Darlington because they have made such a difference to my life.
I now volunteer at Advocacy and I help with reception.

I answer the door and welcome guests and clients to the project and I am also one of the walkers for the Project’s dog, Ben.”

Q8 why are you running for Advocacy?

Chris: The Advocacy project has changed my life. We are like a big family and I feel that I am learning more and more every day.  My reading, writing and handwriting is much better and my confidence in myself has improved a lot.

I would ask as many people as possible to sponsor me so Advocacy can keep going or I will have nowhere to go to and nothing much to do.
